For most people, webpages in the internet is its main folly. It is the most eye-popping aspect of the internet. The pages of the web holds a vast range of information produced by most people who are in academic, government, business background, and even by enthusiasts who just wants to share their information with everyone.
A typical web page is like a magazine page, it contains text and pictures. However, most of today’s web pages also include sound animation and video clips and most important of all, links to other web pages. It is a collection of interlinked web pages with a related topic. You can just type in a keyword in a search engine and you are directed to the results with the most likely similarity.
In 1980, Engineer Tim Berners-Lee of European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva developed a programming language called Hypertext Mark-up Language that would allow the researchers in high-energy physics to share their research with one another.
In 1991 they released this new program in the Internet and named it World Wide Web, which is purely text-based. Since the rapid expansion of Web in1994, they have become capable of displaying graphics and multimedia such as sounds or even “live” radio broadcast, video files, and simple animation.
In the early days of World Wide Web, its pages contain simple text-only. You have to type arcane commands using the keyboard to navigate the Internet’s various resources. Because of these reasons, there are only a few numbers of people that use the Internet.
When the web browser began incorporating graphics and multimedia on their pages, the web became popular. Using both text and graphics in full color, you can now easily navigate and view other information on the internet. From then on the Internet shifted into high gear and opened up many possibilities. One of these is in the world of business.
Websites can make money. It can be used as an advertising revenue and it is one of the most effortless ways to earn money from a website. Anyone with a website can get advertisers. To start, simply join as an affiliate of various sites, either directly, or through an affiliate network, where in, you can select from a variety of advertisers. Furthermore, you should be aware of the different payment schemes available.
Many websites have banner advertisements which are displayed on most pages. If the site is well-known, companies will offer to advertise. Small or large companies pay for ad banners and links to their websites from other search engines and other websites.
Another way of making money through websites is by selling Goods and Services. Many businesses are making money online, particularly in business-to-business arena. These e-businesses offers books, software, computer hardware, travel services and CDs. Thousands of e-stores thrive on the web providing people with a way to purchase goods and services electronically. You name it the internet has it.
Buying and selling online is very rampant now days. On any typical day, millions of people from all over the world go online. To attract customers, you have to aggressively market your website. While guerrilla strategies keep costs down, running a promotional campaign, buying ads, either in print or online, can be costly. Second, you must decide what kind of products to sell. Online shoppers are reluctant to buy big ticket items, such as furniture while Airline tickets and other commodity items are selling well.
However, you must bear in mind that it takes time for people to adapt to new technology and modes of transactions. A lot of people are reluctant to trust their credit card numbers over the internet. Yet most analysts project healthy growth for online sales.
